Tips When Creating Team Names

team trivia names

If you want to come up with trivia team names of your own, you’re more than welcome to, of course. If that’s the case, we don’t want you to leave empty handed. So here are some tups when conjuring up some team names for your next trivia game or trivia night.

1) Find a common bond

A good team trivia name will have some connection to a theme or common bond. So consider creating a name connected to a category, theme, or topic. Think about all the possible titles that correlate with that theme and then attach a quiz or trivia-related theme. You can often do this by inserting some key words about trivia, pub, or game names to the name. Try putting in words like:

  • Quiz
  • Trivia
  • Game
  • Pub
  • Beer
  • Win
  • Victory
  • And other synonyms of those words.

2) If you have to think about it, that’s not it

Don’t make your names too hard to think about for your trivia partner or other participants. If you have to pause for two to three seconds to get the connection of the name, then that’s not it. Don’t worry! There are endless ideas out there for you to try. Don’t get too stuck on one or two ideas and force it.

3) Don’t be afraid to be ridiculous

Remember that the point of a fun trivia game or night is to be ridiculous and have fun! Try not to be too analytical with the names. The more “punny” and crazy they are, the more they’ll stick. Don’t think about what the party planning committee might think about the names. Get daring!

Final Thoughts

Trivia team names definitely aren’t required when coming up with some good trivia nights. But just like a dash of lemon on a plate of really good cake, they can really add an extra tang to your trivia night!
